Why is Drug Education Important? 

It's likely that at some point in life, everyone will have at least seen one of these drugs. Especially when discussing Alcohol, Marijuana, and some street and commerical drugs. This education is important so you know what to look out for, and also hear from people with direct experience from using these drugs during difference periods of life. It's important also to note that drug dealers and obtaining drugs is often one of the most dangerous parts of participating in illegal substances. So making sure you know the people you buy from, and trust their sources, is a huge hurdle to move past. Lastly, making sure that even if you didn't participate, or don't plan on it, that you know what to do in the event of a friend or person around you has an adverse drug reaction. 

Also some drugs like Alcohol, Marijuana, and Psilocybin are legal or decriminalized in some areas and it the information should be available and accessible so that everyone can learn about these substances before ingesting them.

Suicidal Thoughts and Drug Use & Addiction:

While Suicidal thoughts can come from any source, we want to put in a note here that notices the ways in which our anger can overcome our mind. Significant drug use has been known to cause addiction which has lead some to suicide and self-harm.  All of us struggle with our mental health in times of deep sorrow, depression, etc. These struggles typically cause use to seek out a way to manipulate our mental health. Drugs are a key way of doing that, but when they are not prescribed you have the chance of false knowlegde, causing overdose or worsening symptoms. Illicit Drug use can seem as though it will improve our mental health; however, addiction is a mental health condition caused by short-term or long-term use. It is always a good idea to speak with a mental health care professional if you believe you have trouble regulating your emotions on the medications you are prescribed as well as any other drugs you may participate in. Take time to discuss any worries you may have, and be sure to include anything about what causes the need or addiction for the drug of choice. The way we view others and ourself can be complicated and professionals are there to help all of us.
